Week 22: Can Alden get here already?

Hey guys!

So I'm currently in week 22 of pregnancy. 2 more weeks and I'll be moving right into month 6! Ya'll let me just tell you that I have been SO unbelievably tired this week. Every part of my body is aching, I'm not getting sleep because I'm not comfortable. I just keep telling myself that I still have 18 weeks to go which means things will only be getting more achy.

My belly button has gotten so teeny tiny and it HURTS. I just know that here in the next few weeks I'm going to wake up and have a popped belly button. It's just one of those weird parts of pregnancy that you don't really expect.

In other news, I swear I felt Alden kicking from the outside, but I wasn't 100 % sure because I can feel it from the inside so I thought maybe my mind was just playing tricks on me. Well Chris was having his "Alden time" a few nights ago and Alden kicked really hard right below my belly button. Chris immediately looked at me for some sort of confirmation that yes that was him kicking. When I asked if he felt it he FREAKED OUT! He was so excited!!! It's hard being the dad during pregnancy because you don't get to experience anything baby until mid to late pregnancy. He has only felt it that one time but it made him so happy to feel his son for the first time. I think it makes it more real for sure.

I went to the Dr. on Monday and everything was good. Heart was beating good and strong and I'm measuring the right size for my due date. The next appointment will be mid- September and it will be the dreaded glucose test. YUCK... but I'll make it through!

That's pretty much it for this week. I'm growing, Alden is growing. I'm totally exhausted, Alden is not. Fun times! I do have to give major props to the hubs though! He's been very helpful. He sees how tired and physically drained I am so he's been cooking, cleaning and giving me "me" time to just chill and unwind.

As always... THANK FOR READING YOU GUYS!

Week 20-21: My Little Wiggle Worm

Hey guys!

So I'm way behind on my updates. This week I'll do another two for one catch up post since not a lot has gone on during weeks 20 and 21. Obviously now I'm into month 5 so that is exciting.

I guess the biggest news is that Alden is moving around like a crazy person! When I first started feeling him around weeks 18-19 it was SO WEIRD! It honestly felt like I had bugs crawling around inside. I didn't really get used to that feeling but then all of the sudden it went from bugs crawling around inside to feeling like I'm getting thumped. That is equally as weird, but now I've started to get used to it. It amazes me how quickly he progresses. First it was the bug feeling, then light thumps. Last week (week 21) the kicks started getting much harder. Sometimes I'll be sitting at my desk and I grab my belly because its a pretty hard kick. Pretty soon he's gonna be up in my ribs practicing his ninja moves on me! YIKES!

I cannot believe how quick the time is flying. We went from finding out I was pregnant at 4 weeks in.. to now being FIVE MONTHS IN! It's getting closer and closer every day and I cannot wait to meet my little man. I know he is going to be handsome, and perfect and the love of mine and his daddy's life!

My best friend AKA the godmother, AKA aunt Rex has spoiled Alden so much already. I mean we have clothes, diapers, wipes, shoes, pacifiers, towels, bibs, socks, toys..I love looking at all his little things and knowing that sooner than we think, he will be wearing those things!

Oh and fun fact: Alden doesn't appreciate any form of sugar on an empty stomach. Yes that means I've been "hugging the toilet" lately. THANKS ALDEN!

Anyways... That's it for these weeks.

Thanks for reading as always!

Week 19: It's a...

Hey guys!!!
So I meant to post this 3 weeks ago, but I've been super busy so it just hasn't happened until today! So as I mentioned in my week 18 post, we found out what our sweet little baby is! I didn't say the gender then because we had to wait until that Saturday to tell our family!
I wanted to do something cute, that was more like a game so that my family had to work a little bit to figure out the gender. I chose to buy pink and blue balloons and poke holes in the color of the balloons that they baby wasn't so that they wouldn't blow up.
We only invited my parents, my husband's parents and the godparents over to reveal the gender. Once everyone was there and had a few minutes to chat I walked around with 2 bowls; one with pink balloons and one with blue balloons. I told everyone to pick the color balloon that they thought the baby was. Surprisingly only my mom, mother in law and the godfather picked blue balloons! Once everyone had their balloon in hand I explained how the game worked. I said GO! and everyone started blowing. TEAM BLUE WINS!!! My best friend was a little disappointed because she really wanted it to be a girl, but she got over it pretty quick!
The greatest thing about it is that it was a HUGE surprise at the Dr. office when they told us it was a boy. My family has a history of making lots of girls, and my husband's family has some sort of " you gotta have a girl first" rule or something. We totally expected it to be a girl even though we both wanted a boy. You can imagine how we felt to know it WAS a boy! The chain was broken!! We get to have a boy baby first!

We are so totally overjoyed and we will be naming him Alden Joseph Sosa. People always ask me about our name choice so I'll explain it here! So back when I was in middle school there was a cartoon called BraceFace. I loved that cartoon so much! The main male characters name was Alden. I always said I wanted to name my baby that if I had a boy. This is the where it gets weird... When I had told my grandma that name she told me that is my great uncle's middle name! HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!? I never knew what my Uncle's middle name was it's pretty awesome that Clearly I'm attracted to a name that my amazing great grandmother loves! :)

Joseph is my grandpa's name. I love my papa Joe very very VERY much and I knew that in someway I would name my baby after him if I had a boy. We also like that we can call him AJ if we want to.

I'm just so excited that I get to be the mama to a precious little boy!!!

Well that's it for this week!

Week 18: Baby check up week!

Hey Guys,
So I am currently in my 18th week of pregnancy and it's going good! I'm pretty much passed the morning sickness, with the exception of a few things make me feel sick (peanut butter). We went to the Dr. on Tuesday for our check-up, anatomy scan and gender reveal.

This was a very special week because we got to find out the gender. I made sure I had lots of sugar so that my little one would be moving around and hopefully keeping those legs spread! We got into the ultrasound room and of course the tech. had to walk us through everything she was going to be doing AND tell us that the gender wouldn't be made known until the end. Of course I'm sitting there thinking " what if my sugar wears off by then and the baby is in lazy mode!"

As soon as our baby popped up on the screen  we were so excited. We hadn't seen an image of the baby since 10 weeks, and a lot had changed. The baby actually looked like a baby now, not just a blob! First thing I noticed was that the baby had their legs crossed. REALLY BABY?!?! I GAVE YOU ALL THAT SUGAR AND YOU HAVE YOUR LEGS CROSSED RIGHT NOW! I was definitely  keeping my fingers crossed that baby would wake up towards the end of the sonogram!

She went though and showed us all the different body parts, and counted to make sure the right amount of arm, legs, kidneys, bladder etc. was there. She showed us the brain and measured it to make sure it was the right size. She checked to make sure the heart was beating correctly.

Now let me tell you something.. Sonograms are basically baby x-rays so the most noticeable thing is bones. When you see the baby from the side they look adorable and have a cute little nose and belly. Then you see the baby from the front and it is FREAKY! From the front it just looked like a baby skeleton! Strange stuff for sure!

We also got to see the baby chewing on it's fingers and it was ADORABLE! (yes this was viewed from the side so it wasn't freaky looking at all.)

The time came for the gender reveal and we were so nervous. The most important thing was that our baby was healthy. She shows us an image and says ok... " here is the baby's bottom and here is..."

Sorry folks.. I'm not revealing the gender until next week's post. We are going to have our parents and the godparents over on Saturday to share with them the gender.. THEN we will share a photo on social media. :)

In other news I felt the baby move for the first time last night. I've heard it feels like butterflies, which in a sense is true, but its a very unique feeling. Trust me when I say when the baby moves and you feel it for the first time you will know without a shadow of a doubt that is what you felt! This is freaky and amazing all at the same time!

So as you can see a lot has happened this week! I'm super excited to not only know what my sweet baby is now, but to also feel it moving in there! :)

Tune in next week to find out if we are having a  B O Y or G I R L !

Week 17: Bumpin' At the Beach!

Hey guys!
I just got back from Florida on Sunday and it was a blast! The drive there and back was NOT fun, but hey, I survived and so did my baby.
I was able to spend July 11-18 in Florida. It's hurricane season so it rains pretty much every day. Lucky for us it rained at the same time of day which was at night (around 5 or 6) so we were able to enjoy the day. Our room was gorgeous and overlooked the street and beach (we had a wrap around balcony) so we were living large!
This was my first time to Florida and also my first time to visit a beach in the US. It wasn't as beautiful as Grand Cayman or Jamaica, but hey.. it wasn't anywhere near what Galveston looks like!

While we were there we also visited Disney World. It was fun and magical place, but I will say DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE PREGNANT! I was able to ride pretty much everything the family had picked out (which rocks because it would have been a waste of money for me to just walk around the entire time we were there.) The reason I say to skip if you are pregnant is because the place is HUGE and you are walking all day. I don't care how comfortable your shoes are, you will not survive! In fact the next day I woke up feeling like I had gotten into a car accident. Every ounce of my body ached, I couldn't even think about putting on shoes!

We spent a lot of time at the beach, unfortunatley the last 2 days we were there the waves were big. I had finally gotten to where I was comfortable going in shoulder deep, and then a huge wave attacked me! By the way the salt content in the water there is awful! I swam in the ocean before, but nothing compares to the salt there! A drop of water would get in my eye and I was blinded until I could get to my towel and wipe it off!

For the most part the trip was a relaxing one. I'm glad I was able to go, but next time I think I'll fly! Driving for that long is MISERY, even with all the stops we made so that I could walk around, someone could pee, someone could get snacks.

That's about all for this week. I'm sharing a photo from Disney World and a photo of my bump at the beach!

Thanks for reading guys!

Weeks 15-16 : Falling, and The Pain That Followed!

Hey Guys!
I was planning on posting week 15 last week, but I had a lot going on at work so that didn't happen! Here we go again with another two for one special!

Before I break this down into the individual weeks, let me explain something that happened the end of week 14.

So, Some of you may or may not know that I have 3 dogs. One of those dogs happens to be a 52 pound Pit Bull. When she drinks water, she tends to leave a puddle. Sometimes said puddle is right by one of the 3 water bowls in the kitchen, while other times its half way across the room. I don't know how she does it, or why... but it happens! There have been a few times where I've slipped in the water but I've always been able to catch myself! This particular day ( I should say night) I had gone into the kitchen to get a bottle of water. I only had a small lamp on in the living room, so I couldn't see the gigantic lake on my floor, right at the entry to the kitchen. So... yea you can guess what happens next!
I hit the "lake" and immediately started slipping. I tried grabbing the wall, but I wasn't close enough, and the LAST thing I wanted to do was move in a way that would possibly make me land on my belly. So I started going down. I tried to catch myself with my left arm, but that slipped in the water too! Before I knew it my right leg was slamming into the ground, and then went my left knee... right into the ceramic tile!
I got up after a second of trying to figure out what just happened. I knew immediately that my right leg was going to hurt the next day. I was right. It hurt really bad, in fact I barely slept all night. Surprisingly there wasn't a bruise right away.

Now we can start week 15.

WEEK 15
So Monday rolls around (2 days after my fall) and I was feeling some discomfort on both sides of my lower back/hip area. I just figured this was a typical pregnancy pain and didn't worry about it much. After a few days though, it switched to only the left side. My mom of course was worried and told me to call the Dr. I would get involved in something work related and I would forget to call. Again I wasn't worried at all because I didn't have any cramping or bleeding so I mean who cares if I'm in pain as long as baby is OK?!?
Unfortunately for me, the pain kept getting worse, to the point that I was constantly uncomfortable!
Other than that, my nausea pretty much went away, and with the exception of chicken it seems I can eat whatever I want now so YAY! :)
Another fun thing about this week is that I got an adorable book for free called " From Pea to Pumpkin" Its basically a pregnancy journal with fill in the blanks and spots for pictures and stories. I LOVE it and it is adorable!

WEEK 16
I was telling my mom about how my back was STILL hurting over the weekend and she went into mom mode and told me to call my Dr. Monday morning NO EXCUSES! If your mom tells you to do something and uses the phrase NO EXCUSES in it, I don't care what she is telling you to do.. you better do it! So Monday morning I called and left a message for the nurse.
The nurse finally called me back around 11:30-12 and she says I need to come in and get checked out just in case. Of course now I'm worried because I'm thinking about the possibility that something could be wrong with the baby and it would be my fault for brushing off my fall as no big deal. I had a hard time focusing the remainder of my time at work. I finally get to the Dr. and I'm SO nervous! The Dr. came in and chatted with me about it. She checked me out and said it just seemed like a pulled muscle. She gave me some things to try to make it better and said if its not better in a few weeks I'd probably need physical therapy. Then my favorite part... she checked out the heart! Sweet baby Sosa's heart was just beating away!
This made me feel relived and I was also excited I got to hear the baby's heart within 2 weeks of each other. :)

My hip is STILL hurting now and I've got s smiley face shaped bruise on my right leg but its alright! I also managed to walk into the corner of my bed the other day and now I've got a massive dark nasty bruise on my shin! I'm just falling apart over here!

Well that's it for this week. :)
Thanks for reading!

Week 14: Second Appointment Recap

Hey guys,
I know this might sound strange, but it feels like I'm both flying through this pregnancy... and dragging through it at the same time! Some days I'm like " wow I'm already 14 weeks!" Other days I'm like " Ugh, I'm ONLY 14 weeks?" I'm moving along slowly but surely.

So let me just say that I have been SO tired this week. Saturday night I went to bed at 9:30 pm and didn't get up until 9:30 am Sunday. I was so nauseous and dizzy the entire day though. Nothing I did made me feel any better. I ended up going back to sleep around 11am and getting up at 1pm. It was a super lazy day, but I'm glad I was able to just rest, despite how miserable I was.

Monday was our second appointment. Our original plan was to take separate cars, so that after our 9 am appointment we could both go straight to work. However... Baby Raffe decided that I needed to have a gag fest all morning, so Chris decided to drive us. We got to the Dr. at 8:45 and we were back in the car by 9:10. Super quick appointment! We heard the heart beat again, and then we asked some questions and we were out!

We were on the way home and I kept whining about being so nauseous. All of the sudden Chris had to slam on his breaks for a light. That was when things went down hill! Something about the slamming on the breaks really messed with my stomach. I guess everything was sloshing around in there. Chris started driving again.. and it hit me. I covered my mouth and said " OH NO!" Chris asked if I needed him to pull over and all I could say was " I don't know.. I don't know." He turned into a Racetrack gas station and I knew in that moment I was going to be throwing up in public! His car stays locked unless you are not in motion so I'm frantically trying to get the dang door open, and so is he. Finally he gets it unlocked, I fling the door open and fold over so my body is hanging out the door and just threw up like CRAZY. I'm talking 10 minutes of throwing up. Oh and guess what... It was raining, so I got drenched. I sat up for a second to try and get some air only to see Chris had his phone in my face recording the whole thing! After that I felt SO much better than I had in the last few days.

My Dr. had started me on a new medicine that she said would make me feel tired, but it would help. We picked it up on Monday night. I took one Tuesday morning and I was falling asleep the entire drive to work. I sat at work barely able to function. I knew that there was no way I could take those at work. It just wouldn't work out. I have been taking them at night though to help me sleep. Now that I'm in my 2nd tri I'm not so worried anymore, which is good.

My next appointment will be July 22 and the Dr. said if the sono tech can see the gender then we will find out then! :) So excited! I am so happy my little raffe is growing healthy and happy.

That's it for this week!
